Cookies

Mochirix uses three cookie names: guest progress, account session and language preference. It sets no advertising, analytics or third-party cookies, and loads no third-party script. Guest and session cookies are set only when server saving is available. The language cookie is set when you sign in.

Guest cookie

Name

mochirix_guest

Purpose

Recognises your browser as the same guest while you are signed out, so the server can keep your progress, XP, mastery, saved teams and line-up links.

Contents

A random code of 128 bits. It says nothing about you. The server stores only a one-way fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of it.

Set when

Signed out, the first time the server records something for your browser: a battle, a saved team or a line-up link.

Lifetime

400 days (34,560,000 seconds). Removed when you reset your progress, and when you sign in: your guest progress then moves into the account.

Settings

HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. First party only: scripts on the page cannot read it, it travels only over a secure connection, and it is not sent with requests started by other sites, except when you follow a link to Mochirix.

Session cookie

mochirix_session

Purpose

Keeps you signed in to your account, so your progress and purchases are saved to it.

Contents

A random code of 256 bits. The server stores only a one-way fingerprint of it. It is replaced with a new code about once an hour while in use.

Set when

You sign in with a one-time code.

Lifetime

30 days (2,592,000 seconds) from its last renewal. The session itself ends after 30 days without use and 90 days after sign-in in any case. Signing out or deleting the account removes it and ends the session on the server.

HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. First party only: scripts on the page cannot read it, it travels only over a secure connection, and it is not sent with requests started by other sites, except when you follow a link to Mochirix.

Language preference cookie

mochirix.locale

Purpose

Remembers the interface language set at sign-in. A signed-in account’s saved language takes precedence.

Contents

One supported language code: en. It contains no identity or progress.

Set when

You sign in.

Lifetime

365 days (31,536,000 seconds). Each sign-in renews it. Signing out leaves this preference in place.

Settings

SameSite=Lax, HttpOnly, Secure on HTTPS. HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax also apply on local HTTP; Secure is added on HTTPS.

The game also keeps these entries in your browser. They are not cookies: they are never sent to a server with a request. Settings stay here whether or not you are signed in.

mochirix.slice.v1

Local storage. Your tutorial step, puzzle progress and best scores, and your sound, volume and motion settings.

mochirix.server.v1

Local storage. The last copy of your guest or account progress from the server, and whether a reset is still waiting to reach the server.

mochirix.account.signal

Local storage. A time stamp that tells your other open tabs you signed in or out.

mochirix.shop.filters

Session storage, for this tab only. The shop filters you chose.

mochirix.gift.…

Session storage, for this tab only. The claim code of a gift link you opened.

mochirix.playtest.v1

Local storage. Only during a moderated playtest started at /playtest: the session log, which the moderator downloads. Removed when the moderator stops the session.

Island arrangements are saved to your account on the server, not in this browser’s local storage.

Signing out removes the session cookie. Signed out, the Reset progress control on the home page removes the guest cookie and erases this browser’s progress on the device and on the server. Settings stay.

You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser’s settings. The game keeps working: without cookies your progress stays on this device and you cannot stay signed in, and without storage it lasts until you close the page. Progress saved to an account stays in the account.
